Becoming an Eurofurence Critter: On-Site Volunteering

On-site volunteering is the backbone of any community event, and Eurofurence is no exception. Our event wouldn't be possible without the hard work and dedication of volunteers, affectionately called "Critters." By contributing your time and energy, you help make Eurofurence an unforgettable experience for everyone. All our Critters ensure that the event runs smoothly, attendees have a great time, and that the community spirit thrives. Every hour of your volunteer work plays a vital role in creating the magic of Eurofurence.

How to Sign Up

Becoming a Critter is easy! To sign up, simply visit critter.eurofurence.org and log in with your Eurofurence Identity credentials. Once logged in, make sure to join the "Allround Critter" group, which is the general group for volunteers. This allows you to access all available shifts and participate in a wide variety of roles during the event.

For a more detailed explanation of the Critter system, check out the Critter System Manual for Critters.

Volunteer Roles and Special Requirements

Most Critters can sign up for shifts directly in the Critter System once they have joined the "Allround Critter" group. These roles include a wide range of tasks, from helping with logistics to providing general support during the event. No special training is required for these roles, and you can start volunteering right away!

However, some Critter roles require special training or a briefing before you can sign up for shifts. For example, Critters working on stage setups need to attend a safety briefing. These introductions ensure that you are properly prepared for roles with specific responsibilities. You can find the dates and times for these meetings in the Critter System, so make sure to sign up for the necessary briefings before selecting these shifts.

Shift Information

Shifts are available throughout the event, and Critters can sign up for as many shifts as they like. It's important to note that all shifts are coordinated through the Critter System, so be sure to log in regularly to view available opportunities and manage your schedule.

Once you've signed up for a shift, please make sure to be on time and ready to contribute. If you encounter any issues or have questions, the Info Desk is always available to assist you.

Requirements & Training

Volunteering as a Critter doesn't require any special qualifications for most roles. However, if you're interested in specific tasks like stage setup or handling specialized equipment, you will need to attend the appropriate training sessions. These will be listed in the Critter System along with the shifts that require them.

Make sure to complete any required training before signing up for these shifts, as this is necessary to ensure the safety and smooth operation of Eurofurence.

Volunteer Rewards

As a token of our appreciation for your hard work, you'll receive once a Volunteer Pin after completing 2 hours of work. Additionally, for every 6 hours of work, you'll be eligible for a Priority Access Ticket, which you can use to gain priority access to select events. Your contributions are recognized and rewarded to show how much we value your help.
